What Is Fair Trade Coffee

Recently we've had some questions asking "What is Fair Trade Coffee?" Fair trade coffee simply refers to coffee that is certified as having been produced to fair trade standards.

Fair trade organizations create trading partnerships that are based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. Fair trade practices prohibit child or forced labor.

Many small scale family coffee famers live in remote areas and do not have access to credit. This leaves them vulnerable to middlemen that offer cash for their crops at a small fraction of fair value. Fair Trade practices guarantees famers a minimum price, and connects them with directly with importers. By doing so, long term sustainability is created for their farms.

We try to always purchase Fair Trade beans just as we seek to only purchase organic beans. We will always seek out the highest quality organic beans that treat farmers and their families right. When you purchase your beans from us you can feel good about where they come from.

Have more questions? Send them to us! We love to talk coffee:)
